Rackets is a game played competitively in the Michaelmas and Lent Term where we play 13 schools on a strong circuit.

We play two National Tournaments at The Queens Club. Boys Singles and Girls Doubles in December and Girls singles and Boys Doubles in March. It’s good to get the pupils in year 7 and 8 playing in the Prep School to get used to the game before they go up to the Upper School.

We mainly play doubles especially in school fixtures and the boys and girls tend to have a good hand and eye who play. The term also hosts a School Singles Tournament for seniors which is called the ‘Windows Trophy’. A Junior Tournament which is called the ‘Inverdale Racket’ and a Girls Tournament called the ‘Beale Board’. The winners of the tournaments get their names engraved on the honours boards.

I joined Clifton from Year 9 and got introduced to rackets very quickly. Without a doubt playing rackets has been the best decision of my time at Clifton. It has taken me to a wide range of places and is a great community to be in.
