Clifton College is one of a very small number of Preparatory Schools in which every pupil, whether day or boarder, is attached to a House that becomes their home-from-home during the School day.
These Houses give the children a secure base throughout the day, as well as affording parents a point of daily contact with their children’s pastoral staff.
Every child is part of a small tutor group within the House, and the tutor has a key role to play in the regular monitoring of his or her group’s educational and social progress and development.
Boarding
Clifton College enjoys magnificent surroundings in a historic setting, but combines this with the most up-to-date modern facilities.
Our boarding House, Hartnell’s House, provides a comfortable, safe and secure home-from-home for your child, where they will form close bonds and friendships that will last a lifetime. The house sits round the corner from College Fields, where we hold many sporting events for the Prep School, and it has been named one of ‘Britain’s 50 nicest streets to live on’ by The Telegraph.
It is run by a dedicated team of caring and professional staff, including a Housemaster, his wife and a team of tutors. The matron acts like a surrogate mother to the children. They know the whereabouts of every item of clothing, provide enormous emotional support, and will be a constant fixture in the pupils’ lives.
We offer full, weekly or flexible boarding options to suit the needs of increasingly busy parents, and parents are encouraged to pick up the phone or email their children whenever they want.
