Summer Serenade and Arts Evening

The last Thursday in June, a truly sun-soaked evening, saw the whole school come out to celebrate the arts at Clifton.

Either side of the outdoor events, as the ‘Summer Serenade’ component, the Chapel was filled with the sounds of 8 concerto movements performed by our top pupil musicians with the accompaniment of a professional orchestra, works including those by Marcello, Saint-Saens, Shostakovich, Chaminade, Tchaikovsky, Bottesini and a pupil-written piano concertino.

Outside, and in surrounding spaces, the festival-style atmosphere was buzzing as pupils and parents enjoyed the street-food and range of music, drama and dance performances.

On stage one, there were stand-out performances of monologues by Elliot and Angel, whilst on stage two there were extracts from Noughts and Crosses and a range of chair duets inspired by Frantic Assembly.

DT and Art exhibitions showed the high level of talent and skill within our pupil body, and the evening finished with an hour of our jazz and rock workshops in the packed Crypt. It was an amazing evening, showcasing Clifton’s appreciation of the arts.
