Rowing Squad Trains for Race Season
The Rowing Squad trains three days a week at the river and have been focussing this term on the rowing head race season.
These races are time trials over distances longer than 2km, the longest being nearly 7km of racing.
The 1st VIII is training towards the Schools’ Head which will be held on the Tideway in London on the 17th of March.
Some of the younger crews are aiming towards the Scullery which is an event held on the Olympic rowing lake in Dorney on the 20th March.
Training consists of technical, strength and fitness work to ensure that crews can race at full speed for anything up to 23 mins. We train whatever the weather and there is great capacity to develop a full understanding of the level of commitment and determination required to be part of a crew.
Keep up the great work all and good luck for the race season ahead!
