Pride Parade 2023
2022 marked the 50th anniversary of the first UK Pride March, which took place on 1st July 1972.
On Friday 28th April, Clifton College held a parade to celebrate the diversity of our school community and as a statement that prejudice has no place in our society and certainly no place in our school.
In addition to a strong community celebration, this event contributed to our efforts to be inclusive of all students, and studies have shown that when schools promote LGBTQIA+ inclusion, there are mental health benefits across the entire student population.
The parade was open to all staff from Clifton College, children, young people and parents. We congregated outside Chapel in the South Quad and the route took us along the parapet, down College Road and back along the far side of The Close. The route was full of fabulous decorations and music to accompany the event and, as it was also a Home Clothes Day, colourful clothing, face paint and accessories were encouraged!
The Pride March was an important way for the Clifton College community to take pride in celebrating our differences and to support those different from ourselves.
