June 2021 Organ Distinctions and Recital Awards
Congratulations to 3 young organists who gained distinctions in their Grades 1, 7 and 8 organ exams in June 2021.
Despite the very disruptive pandemic year, with access to pipe organs often restricted, and with additional hurdles of international travel and remote Zoom lessons, Minh and Sarah (Year 9), and Jude (Year 10), all gained distinctions in their organ exams this summer. The College has made special efforts to open up the 4-manual Harrison and Harrison chapel organ with supervised access during weekends and holidays whenever legal to assist pupils in their studies.
In addition four College pupils performed a 45-minute virtual recital for the Bristol and District Organists’ Association (BDOA). also in June, with repertoire including Vierne’s Aubade, Langlais’ Te Deum, Couperin’s Trio, Thalben-Ball’s Elegy and Bach’s ‘In dir ist Freude’. They have received financial awards from the Edgar Joyce Fund of the BDOA to support their organ studies for which the College is very grateful.
Videos of our organists playing at another event, our streamed Kadoorie Competition in May, can be viewed here:

Well done to our young organists for meeting all these challenges so successfully!
