House Song 2024
Many congratulations to all pupils who participated in Chapel on the last night of the October 2024 first half of term, in the Part-Song and Unison competitions, full of colour and buzz.
The adjudicator was Mr Daniel Robson, now Director of Music at Mount Kelly School in Tavistock, and Director of Music at Clifton College 2012-23. He praised the exceptional standards across all entries, including shaded dynamics, clear articulation, unanimous tone and often subtle choreography, all a product of very careful preparation. Also notable was the real variety of styles chosen including bossa nova, doo-wop, a medley, ballads, and more contemporary numbers.
It was extremely hard to come up with a shortlist of best houses, such was the closeness of quality. In the end, for the Part-Song highly commended mentions went to Hallward’s, Moberly’s and West Town, with the winners Oakeley’s. For the Unison, highly commended mentions went to Moberly’s, Oakeley’s, School, with the winners West Town.
Thanks to all involved, including all those behind the scenes: it was a wonderful way to end this busy first half of term, which also featured our first Black History Month Music in the Crypt Night celebrating diverse black voice, and a wonderful Junior Scholar’s Concert.
