Clifton College proud to support Tobacco Factory Theatres

We are delighted to support production for Tobacco Factory Theatres’ (TFT) in-house production of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale to be staged early 2025.

Directed by Heidi Vaughan, Artistic Director of TFT; this play welcomes Shakespeare back to the South Bristol theatre with a dynamic telling of this much loved, though rarely performed tale.

We have always been proud to support TFT, anchored in the unquestionable impact TFT has on its community and school aged pupils across the city – whether through productions, youth theatre via the Young Theatre Maker programmes or their Get Involved workshops for students to further their knowledge and passion of the arts.

Heidi Vaughan, Artistic Director and CEO of Tobacco Factory Theatres said; “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Clifton College once more as headline supporter for our production of The Winter’s Tale in 2025. This partnership will allow us to make the work more accessible, with reduced price tickets for Under 25s. It will also see the theatre deliver more wrap around activity, offering young people a deeper engagement with the theatre and, more specifically, a Shakespeare production that is being made right here in their home city.”

Dr Tim Greene, Head of Clifton College said; “We are pleased to have this opportunity to support Tobacco Factory Theatres. Accessibility to the arts for young people in Bristol is important to us, and we hope many schools can experience this wonderful production. We have a very strong drama department at Clifton and our pupils all have the opportunity to perform on stage in every age group. Our drama scholarship is incredibly popular and our new drama film highlights the wider impact that drama can provide a young person.”

Tickets for all schools and people aged 26 are priced at £14 for the entire run, offering a 44% discount on top price tickets. School groups will also be able to take advantage of free tickets which are being offered for groups of 10 or more.

One of William Shakespeare’s final plays, The Winter’s Tale fuses comedy, romance and tragedy in a profound story of love, loss and redemption. The production will be performed in the venue’s distinctive in-the-round Factory Theatre, and, of course, includes Shakespeare’s most famous and challenging stage direction: ‘Exit, pursued by a bear’.

The Winter’s Tale runs at Tobacco Factory Theatres from 20 February to 28 March 2025 with matinee and evening performances available. Ticket prices begin at £18.00 and are available at tobaccofactorytheatres.com.
