Clifton College Hosts Its First Triathlon
On Sunday 8th May more than 700 pupils from 25 local Bristol schools took part in the Flight Centre Schools Triathlon hosted at Clifton College, to raise money for Restless Development to support girls’ education in Sierra Leone.
The Flight Centre Schools Triathlon is a national series with more than 6,000 pupils taking part across the country this year. This is the first year that Clifton College has hosted the event, which has raised over £1.3 million overall for charity since their inception in 2015.
“We were delighted to be able to host the Schools Triathlon at Clifton College and support the great work carried out by Restless Development. It was absolutely fantastic to see so many young people participating in sport and displaying such spirit in taking part.” – Tim Greene, Head Master Clifton College.
Groups of pupils took turns to swim, cycle and run to raise money, which will be doubled by the UK Government as part of the Restless Development Power Up Appeal.
An impressive total of almost £60,000 has been raised so far, with donations still coming in post-event. Thank you to all involved for the hard work that went into fundraising, this is an incredible achievement and we are very proud to have facilitated raising so much money for such a worthy charity.
Adam Dixon, former Team GB hockey captain for the Olympic Games and Director of Hockey at Clifton College, was honoured to present finisher medals in his Team GB kit – “It’s great to see so many young athletes smiling and achieving something amazing with their friends. It’s so special.”
Many congratulations to all the pupils that participated in the triathlon and a big thank you to all the volunteers, vendors and staff that helped to make the event such a success!
