Clifton College Hockey Coach signs for GB Hockey

Huge congratulations to Rebecca Daniel, Hockey Coach at Clifton College, who has been selected to be part of the senior GB centralised hockey programme.

Rebecca is a fantastic role model to our pupils, and brings a wealth of experience to her coaching from playing international hockey for both Great Britain and Wales.

Alongside coaching at Clifton College, Rebecca currently plays in the Premier League for Clifton Robinsons and also has 18 senior international caps for Wales.

Rebecca started playing hockey at six years old for her local club, Bury St Edmunds. After working her way up through the junior age groups and to senior hockey, she then moved to Cambridge City at the age of 14. She played for the ladies 1st team in the National League for three years. After finishing school, she went to Durham University to study Sport and Exercise Sciences. Rebecca played for Durham University in both the BUCS and National League for the next four years.

Whilst at university, Rebecca was involved with the Welsh hockey programme, gaining her first senior international cap in a test series against South Africa in 2022. She has represented Wales at the Junior World Cup, Birmingham Commonwealth Games, European Qualifiers and European II Championship. She has also been involved with the GB Elite Development Programme.

We wish Rebecca the very best of luck in the upcoming season and can’t wait to see where her coaching may take some of our pupils!
