English | Paper based on the standard GCSE paper format i.e. a reading section and a writing section. It is similar to the ISEB Common Academic Scholarship Examination. |
Mathematics | Papers are based on the ISEB Common Academic Scholarship syllabus, and follow a similar format. |
Science | Papers are based on the ISEB Common Academic Scholarship syllabus, and follow a similar format. |
Geography | Papers are based on the ISEB Common Academic Scholarship syllabus, and follow a similar format. |
History | Papers are based on the ISEB Common Academic Scholarship syllabus, and follow a similar format. |
Religious Studies | Papers are compatible with the ISEB Common Academic Scholarship syllabus. |
French | Papers are based on the ISEB Common Academic Scholarship syllabus, and follow a similar format. There will be no listening section for this exam, and the reading/writing paper also includes a gap-fill grammar section. |
German | Papers are based on the ISEB Common Entrance papers and follow a similar format. The reading/writing paper also contains a multiple-choice grammar section. There is no listening section in this exam. |

Mandarin | This examination is for candidates who have studied Chinese for 2 years. The paper can be adapted for students who use traditional Chinese characters rather than simplified. |
Latin/Ancient Greek | Papers are written on request depending on the level of the candidate choosing to be examined (CE Level 1/2/3/CAS). |
Art | Candidates for the Art Scholarship attend the department at a date set in February to present a portfolio. They are also asked to sit an observational drawing exam lasting for an hour and a half followed by a colour test for an hour and a half. |
Design & Technology | Candidates for the Design & Technology will be expected to provide a portfolio to contain sketches, diaries and detailed photographs of finished products. They will also be required to complete a design task. |
