Green Team awarded Level 1 in RHS School Gardening Award

The Green Team is a student-led initiative in the Prep School, focused on promoting sustainability and biodiversity at Clifton. Over the past few years, the team has actively worked to reduce food waste within the school, raise funds for local environmental charities, and develop a school gardening area that ties into the DT Food curriculum. The students themselves choose the projects they want to tackle, based on their observations around the school. Our goal is to empower them to make a positive difference for their own future and the environment.

As part of our gardening efforts, the Green Team recently submitted a 400-word application for the RHS School Gardening Awards. We were thrilled to recently receive Level 1 recognition, which included a certificate, a book on creating biodiverse gardens, and a selection of seeds. We’re excited to continue our progress and work towards Level 2.

Following the award, the Green Team members wasted no time preparing ‘The Kitchen Garden’ for the upcoming planting season. We had a lovely sunny afternoon getting everything ready for the seedlings that are currently growing indoors.
