Clifton College Rugby Programme Celebrates Remarkable Successes

Following on from recent successes for our rugby programme, we are delighted to see that current pupil, Aidan has been named Bristol Bears men’s U18s Player of the Season, an outstanding achievement for Aidan.

OC Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has scooped a number of awards in recent weeks, winning Rugby Black List’s Men’s Performance Player for the season which aims to celebrate achievements on and off the pitch of black role models within the rugby community. Immanuel was also named in the Premiership Rugby Team of the Season for 2023/24. Completing a hat trick of awards, Immanuel has also been named Breakthrough Player of the Season for Exeter Chiefs and Premiership Rugby (following on from fellow OC, Ioan Lloyd winning the Premiership’s breakthrough award in 2020-21).

Not to be out-done, Danny Grewcock, our High Performance Rugby Manager has recently been inducted into the Rugby Hall of Fame. Making more than 200 club appearances for Saracens and Bath, he was renowned as one of the most fearsome locks in English Rugby, winning the World Cup with England in 2003 and being a part of two Lions Tours. Mr Grewcock is now putting his experience and talent into coaching young players like Aidan, Immanuel and Ioan.

Speaking to the British and Irish Lions website, Mr Grewcock said:

“It’s a huge honour. Sometimes you forget what your former job was, you can be very busy working in a school and to then get a reminder that you spent a few years playing in the Premiership is incredibly pleasing. To get the honour to come along to Twickenham and watch this year’s final is incredible – my family are chuffed to bits. It is a great honour and very pleasing.”

Many congratulations to all three, you are making everyone at the College very proud!
