There is an opportunity for pupils in Years 10-13 to take part in horse riding at Urchinwood Equestrian Centre each term.
Horse riding also offers numerous mental health benefits. Spending time in nature and fresh air can help clear the mind, reducing stress and anxiety. The sense of accomplishment that comes from mastering new skills and overcoming challenges boosts confidence and self-esteem.
From a physical aspect, horse riding is an excellent form of exercise. Riding requires core strength, balance, and coordination. As riders navigate obstacles, control their horse’s movements, and maintain proper riding posture, they engage various muscle groups and improve flexibility, making it a great full-body workout.
Qualified staff provide tuition for riders from beginners to more experienced levels; encouraging pupils to reach their full potential and allowing them to enjoy being with horses in a safe environment. Specialist equipment is provided, spaces are subject to availability and additional costs apply.
I enjoy horse riding as it’s a freeing and refreshing activity that builds upon my teamwork skills with animals as well as with people.
