Ten Tors Achievement
On Saturday 29 April, 6 Clifton College pupils took part in the Ten Tors Event in Dartmoor. The event required the team to complete a 35-mile route, visiting ten nominated tors under two days. The team had to be self-sufficient, carrying all that they needed to complete their route and wild camp overnight safely.
223 teams took part in the 35-mile event in which Clifton College came 5th overall, finishing at 09:40am on Sunday morning, completing the route in the exceptional time of 15hrs 50 minutes. Team leader Seb and Deputy Team leader Matt’s navigation and leadership skills were outstanding throughout the event and led the team to successfully completing eight tors on the first day!
Completing Ten Tors is not easy with the challenging terrain, long distances and often the climate all conspiring against success. However it is achievable with the right commitment, training, endurance and grit; as the Event’s founder said: “If there is anything more important than the will to succeed, it is that the will shall not falter.”
Well done to all the team; Seb, Matt, Ronnie, James, Ben and Galron for being consistently strong, committed and motivated to succeed.
